Treat People Right

Do what makes you happy. Do what you feel like doing; nobody should dictate your happiness. Many people are used to hearing this statement. While it is good to say that to uplift someone’s spirit when they are feeling low, this consolatory message is not ideal in every situation.

You can’t wake up to hurt another person’s feelings because you “are doing what makes you happy.” Being selfish is often justifiable to self-centered people; do not be one. I understand that it is necessary for you to stand up for yourself, as no one else will do that for you. However, be careful to draw the line between protecting yourself and being selfish, without considering the interests or well-being of others. It doesn’t make you strong, it doesn’t make you powerful, though you may have such feelings, you are simply being a bully.

Being strong and empathetic is what most people cannot relate to. Being strong doesn’t connote not showing human sympathy or thinking about the interests of someone else. If you have had bad experiences in the past, do not allow that past filter into your present life. They may be important for the lessons they taught you, but don’t allow such experience to turn you into what you are not, do not allow it to make you feel you should always be on the attack. Always protect yourself, despite your circumstances. Do not allow the world to shape you into being what you are not. You should be strong, but not bitter; you can be soft and yet not a walkover.

In summary, remember who you are originally before the hurtful experiences you had. Remain joyful, be careful not to hurt again, but live your life fully expecting the best from life and treating the people you meet along your way right.

Have a good week.
