While “To err is human, to forgive is divine” is a very popular saying, it does not absolve you from the consequences of your actions. Before you take any step in any matter, think it through. Perhaps if you had thought through a particular action, you might have had a different outcome. (You can see the video version of this here https://youtu.be/nwQzQB8Nxfg)
Every action you take in life has an effect; it is either a desirable one or the opposite one. So, if you want to achieve a particular result, then be deliberate in your actions. If you don’t intend to offend people, do your best to be inclusive and treat everyone with respect.
It is a different matter entirely if you offend someone inadvertently; in such cases, it is often easier for others to forgive you if you sincerely ask for it. On the other if you happen to be the offended one, and find yourself in a situation where the other person is remorseful, please extend good graces to that person. Anyone humble enough to admit their wrongs and genuinely ask you for forgiveness deserves the opportunity to be forgiven.
I understand it may not be an easy one for you if the matter is an emotional one, especially where you or your loved ones suffered unjustly due to the actions of this person. Just remember that no matter how painful that betrayal may be, you will feel better releasing that person through forgiveness for your own emotional healing.
Indeed, to forgive is divine; however, imagine a situation where you can avoid that path entirely simply by being circumspect and treating people well. So, be cautious before you make a decision that will affect other people.
A new week is upon us, the Christmas week. Be careful in your dealings with other people. Give those you meet the benefit of the doubt and extend the same grace to them that you would wish to receive yourself. You will find that life is much more rewarding when lived this way.
Merry Christmas!.
