Self-Reflection

Reflection is the serious, deep consideration or thought about one’s actions, life experiences, beliefs, or any specific subject matter. Sometimes, the result of your reflection may be a resolve to do something better, or, if the opportunity still presents itself, to right some wrongs.

If you desire a progressive life, then you must form the habit of self-reflection. Look inwards, put that searchlight on yourself, and work very hard to correct the areas of your life that still leave much to be desired. It is not a time to wallow in self-pity or dwell on regrets; rather, it’s a strategic moment to learn from past errors.

Most people are quick to criticize, judge, and speak ill of others’ decisions. The fact remains that these same critics, when faced with a similar situation, might even do worse. Therefore, be more humane, don’t be in a hurry to condemn; where the opportunity presents itself, give the other party room to explain why they acted in a particular manner. Understanding the ‘why’ often shifts the focus from judgment to empathy. You may also realize in your moment of reflection that you need to forgive and forget certain “wrongs” done to you, and also ask that from others, where you happen to be the offender.

Remember, self-reflection doesn’t require a retreat. Try incorporating it as a simple 15-minute part of your daily routine; you will be surprised at how much better your output will be going forward!

Have a blessed day.
