Irrespective of our individual makeup, we are mostly a product of our environment. Whenever you see someone behave in a particular way, check that person’s upbringing and life experiences; that would be a large contributor to why that person is the way he is. Knowing this, you should be particular about where you are. Whilst you cannot change your background and your previous life experiences, you can choose the type of future you want for yourself regardless of your past.
One of the first steps to becoming what you have planned for yourself is to choose your environment. If you are not in a place that encourages your growth, a place that makes you constantly question your capabilities, then change that environment, because as long as you are there, you will never grow. Constantly surround yourself with the right people, the people going where you want to go. The right circle can get you to your destination faster than going alone.
If you find yourself in a place of discomfort, it does not necessarily mean you should change that environment, sometimes the discipline you need to succeed in your chosen endeavour is formed in your time of difficulties. The goal is to strike a balance between seeking growth and enduring the necessary trials that build character.
As you continue your life’s journey, keep your eyes steady on your goal, leave the distractions and the side talks, persevere where necessary until you achieve your dream.
