Benefit Of Doubt?

It is fair to admit that we are not always at our best at every point in time. There are times we function best, and there are times we practically have to drag ourselves before we can get anything done! There are also times we act out because we were pushed to our limits. Imagine meeting someone at their worst and then summing up that person’s existence based on that experience. (You can see the video version of this here – https://youtu.be/9NJW1zd_D-w )

Today, choose to give everyone you meet the benefit of the doubt. The general rule is that first impression matters, but I prefer to step away a bit from this general rule. Think for a minute if you would like it if people judged you based on seeing you at your worst. The answer to this may give you the best insight into this topic. Don’t be too quick to judge others, and don’t be too quick to make permanent and damning conclusions about other people.

An important point to note when dealing with other people is to always give people room to explain their actions. Of course, certain scenarios may not allow opportunities for that, but if you happen to find yourself in situations that allow that, give people ample room to explain themselves. The popular rhetoric that if people show themselves once that you should believe them is not always correct. That doesn’t mean you should be careless about your relationship with people, investigate actions, and make your conclusions based on your findings. Don’t allow emotions to crowd your thoughts and base your final decision not on a one-off act, but rather on logic.

Have a fruitful week!
