Communication

Colleagues engaging in teamwork and brainstorming in a modern office space.

Hello, how are you doing today? Hope you are doing great? The afore mentioned seems to be the simplest form of greeting in the society I come from. Though simple and almost cliche, it is still an acceptable way of showing interest in the well-being of the other person. Nobody bothers to find out whether it is heartfelt or not, it is just accepted as it is. (You can see the video version of this here- https://youtu.be/2JWNmGwbvG0 )

Social communications may not be your forte, inspite of this, society demands that you learn how to communicate with other people. Why? I think this is because no man is an island. We are built to interact with other people. It doesn’t matter if you are introverted, you are still required to communicate with other people.

Our interactions with other people give us room to learn something new and forge a better and harmonious society for all. We exist with others, no matter how individualistic a society may be, human interactions will always happen in other for things to get done. So, the question is, do you know how to communicate? Are you uncomfortable with making small talks? If you are uncomfortable with having even the barest form of communication with others, is it something you will like to work on? These set of questions are designed to help you evaluate your social life as it relates to communication. It is possible that you hate making small talks because you prefer to be on your own, that is fine, but what if you find yourself in a situation that you have to talk to the other person to save your life, what will you do. Of course, you will save your life, you will make that small talk. Consider social communications as one of those things in life that though not compulsory is a desirable trait. The information you may take hours to research on, may just be solved by a small talk with the right person.

Human interaction is very important, learn to be comfortable with it.  Do not shy away from social talks, you may be surprised to find out how refreshing some of those communications can be.

Have a nice week and do not forget to talk to a stranger this week.
